报告人简介：

Johan Swinnen is director general of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Prior to joining IFPRI, he was professor of economics & director of the LICOS Centre for Institutions & Economic Performance at KU Leuven (Belgium) and senior research fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels. Earlier he was lead economist at the World Bank and economic adviser to the European Commission. He has been a visiting professor at various universities and a frequent adviser to international institutions. Dr. Swinnen has a PhD from Cornell University and two honorary doctorates. He has published extensively on agricultural policies, food security, international development, political economy, institutional reforms, trade & global value chains.

报告内容：

The world has reached a new normal of disorder, with food systems facing shocks driven by climate change, conflict, and geopolitical tensions. In this seminar, IFPRI Director General Johan Swinnen will explore the impact of these shocks and how the changing development landscape is impacting trade, food security, healthy diets, and livelihoods in low- and middle-income countries. He will discuss how the development community can use food systems transformation to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2 of Zero Hunger and adopt innovative financing mechanisms such as repurposing agricultural expenditures; debt swaps; and public-private sector collaboration. Finally, Dr. Swinnen will draw upon IFPRI’s research to identify options for programs, policies, and investments that can ensure that food systems meet the needs of people and the planet.
